An electric winch is a mechanical device used to lift, pull and position heavy loads using an motorized driven system. This system supplies a direct current of electricity to power the device’s lifting mechanism, which works by rolling a drum in order to wind a cable or wire rope in or out.

Diesel winch is a slow speed pulling or hoisting winch which is driven by diesel powered engine therefore the diesel winch is also called diesel powered winch or diesel engine winch. The diesel winch is widely adopted to hoist or pull heavy objects by winding steel wire rope or chain around a rotating winch drum,driven by belt drive or shaft drive. The diesel powered engine winch can be used alone and also can be adopted as parts of process crane or other large equipment for pulling, hoisting and towing.
